The era of micro-electronics has now arrived in masts.  The worlds "smallest" mast that can extend to the "tallest" mast is being introduced.  It was designed to allow robots to go under vehicles then be capable of extending up to eight feet from a four inch base and operate with multiple sensors.

SAM-8 can be mounted on existing unmanned ground vehicles (UGV's); stand alone applications or comes standard in the G-Bot.  In stand alone applications SAM-8 can be buried or hidden, tied to sensors that enable the system to rise up, record or transmit via SATCOM to a central site.

  • Maximum Stroke Speed                                   45 seconds

  • DC Power

  • Total Unit Weight                                             10 lbs

Features:

q  Cable system 5 shielded twisted pairs plus power

(Signals from base to top of unit)

q Stainless steel/aluminum design

q Utilizes "plug-and play" architecture

q Tele-operated control or autonomous operation

q High durability

q Equipped with mission specific modules

Applications:

► Configured to conduct military operations in urban terrain, including tunnels, sewers, and caves

► Surveillance cameras, lights, and microphone

► Emergency response

► Assist war fighters tasked with manpower intensive or high-risk functions without exposing soldiers    directly to the hazard. (I.e. urban intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, chemical/toxic industrial chemicals (TIC) Toxic industrial materials (TIM), reconnaissance, etc.)

► Supported by ad-hoc communications to establish swarm operation by grouping several SAMS together on a single mission.

Harris Corporation is incorporating the SAM-8 into their prototype robot called "ADAM".

irobot incorporates SAM-8 into their Packbot.  The PackBot offers war fighters and first responders various interchangeable modular payload capabilities such as the SAM-8.  SAM-8 is the only compact lift small enough to fit into a robot and raise as high as 8 feet.
